On the morning of September 13, at the launch ceremony of the Second Yangtze River Cultural and Art Season—“Audiovisual Yangtze” Online Communication Week—the National Radio and Television Administration released the seventh batch of recommended programs for the “Travel with Micro-Short Dramas” creation initiative, totaling 94 titles. Among them, the micro-short drama “Star’s Wish,” submitted by the Hunan Provincial Radio and Television Bureau, guided by the Liuyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television and Sports, and produced by Malanshan Video & Creative Industry Park, Hunan Moxing Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., and Liuyang Dongxin Culture Media Co., Ltd.—a subsidiary of Dongxin Fireworks Group Co., Ltd.—was successfully selected.

Even more proudly, this series is also Liuyang City’s first micro-short drama to receive national-level recognition upon its initial submission, marking a remarkable milestone in the development of Liuyang’s cultural industry.

The series consists of 20 episodes, each lasting 3 minutes, and conveys profound cultural insights in a concise format. The filming locations deliberately include Dongxin Fireworks Group Co., Ltd., the Dao Guan Chong Intangible Cultural Heritage Folk Village in Zhangfang Town, Liuyang City, and Gugang Town, enabling the industry strength of Dongxin Fireworks and the regional cultural charm of Liuyang to be showcased side by side.

“Star’s Wish” is a story that uses fireworks as its medium to explore themes of family love, friendship, and cultural heritage. Twelve-year-old Xingxing, missing her late grandfather—a fireworks engineer—accidentally swaps bodies with Song Shijing, a 30-year-old engineer from the Dongxin Fireworks Group, thus embarking on a dual-life journey. Through the perspectives of three generations, the series vividly portrays the unique significance of fireworks in Chinese culture.

In the story, Song Shijing’s role as an engineer at Dongxin Fireworks Group is not only a crucial link in the plot but also subtly conveys Dongxin Fireworks Group’s unwavering commitment to and deep passion for fireworks design and cultural heritage. The core theme of the series—that fireworks are both a traditional craft and a cultural symbol—mirrors the shared value that Dongxin Fireworks Group and Dongxin Cultural Media Company aim to convey: to elevate fireworks beyond being mere “festive symbols” and transform them into vessels that carry the collective memory of our national culture.

In the plot, Xingxing’s deep longing for her grandfather and her unwavering passion for fireworks, Song Shijing’s professional challenges and breakthroughs, and her grandfather’s legacy of passing down the art of fireworks—all come together to form the heart of the story. Through this narrative, the story vividly portrays the clash between tradition and modernity, conveying the idea of combining innovation with tradition and encouraging young people to innovate while preserving their heritage. At the same time, the series incorporates elements such as workplace competition and family conflicts, enriching and grounding the storyline in reality. The tender portrayal of familial and friendly bonds further allows viewers to feel warmth and strength.
