Father and daughter's dedication: Transforming intangible cultural heritage into a new engine for development
Author:
One certificate, two generations of inheritance
Ancient formula meets the digital age
Inheritance bursts forth with new life in innovation
When the intangible cultural heritage inheritor certificate issued by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Radio, Film and Television was solemnly handed to Zhong Juan, general manager of Dongxin Fireworks Group, what she touched with her fingertips was not only a paper of glory, but also a fireworks inheritance that spans time and space—her father, Zhong Ziqi, the national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor, received his mission with the same feeling 16 years ago.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Liuyang fireworks amazed the world, leaving a deep impression on the Chinese people. Behind this was Chairman Zhong Ziqi leading the Dongxin Fireworks team to work day and night, pushing the millennial firecracker skills to the center of the world stage.

At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the "Welcoming Pine" welcomed people from all over the world, the "Dandelion" fluttered gently, and the "Purple Snow Flower" shone brightly. This is the vigor of the times bursting forth from the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese culture; this is the "fireworks color" lit by General Manager Zhong Juan empowering the millennial craft with digital technology.

This inheritance practice profoundly interprets the wisdom of "upholding the right principles without being bound by the past": adhering to the essence of traditional skills while using innovative thinking to solve the problems of the times, setting an example for the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.
Intangible Cultural Heritage in China:
"Protecting is not copying, but letting it continue to shine today"
This unique "father-daughter inheritance" attracted the attention of CCTV's large-scale cultural program "Intangible Cultural Heritage in China" in 2023. In the program, Chairman Zhong Ziqi and General Manager Zhong Juan appeared together as inheritors and innovators of Liuyang firecracker making skills, becoming a highlight of the program.
Chairman Zhong Ziqi demonstrated the traditional handmade skills of Liuyang fireworks and firecrackers attentively; in the flurry of his fingertips was the wisdom and perseverance accumulated over the years.

General Manager Zhong Juan confidently showcased the large-scale music fireworks launching control system and environmentally friendly sulfur-free low-smoke fireworks technology independently developed by Dongxin Fireworks, explaining how to use technology to add wings to ancient skills.

This cross-time and space "dialogue" vividly interprets the core spirit of Dongxin Fireworks: rooted in tradition, pioneering innovation. The father guards the "roots" and "soul" of the skills, while the daughter is committed to allowing this ancient tree to flourish in the new era, bearing fruits that better meet modern aesthetics, environmental requirements, and safety standards.
